East Coast cleaned house tonight - the Patriots and the Giants are heading to the Super Bowl. Sugar is clearly not so interested. I personally think the Patriots got this one.
I woke up to the saddest news - Jasper tore his ACL. I felt like someone kicked me in the stomach when I watched my sweet nugget limping around the apartment. My heart was breaking. He's 2 years old and has never experienced any pain/trauma/sadness of any sort. I've heard from athlete friends of mine just about how painful a torn ACL is, and how long it takes to heal. The little guy is on bed rest for 4-6 weeks - which is quite a bummer for a dog.
Lindsey invited me to go with her to a holiday party last night. The festivities began at Tammany Hall Tavern in midtown. Cute place. Then we moved on to Webster Hall to catch the Matisyahu show. I was excited because I've always wanted to go to Webster Hall - it's a historic nightclub. It's cool inside, a great spot to see a show. We got there way after the show started, but still got to catch the last 3 or 4 songs. Lots of fun. Afterwards we headed to a lounge called The Bunker. Inside it feels like a true bunker. It's underground, and inside it's very cozy with exposed brick, low ceilings, dim lighting and a maze-like hallways. I got lost on my way to find the loo and stumbled upon the most interesting semi-private hidden rooms with libraries in them. Really neat. Our group ordered a bottle of...vodka! Lindsey and her friend Gil strike a pose:
/*TOMORROWISCHRISTMAS EVE!!! */
Every year Jasper wears his Santa Hat. For about 6 seconds. I love looking at the famous Rockefeller tree. I can't walk through that area of the city without stopping to take a look. I'm still in awe every time I see it. I love that I'm a tourist in the city I'm living in, it makes every single day feel special in some way.
#Listen Beats from last night. He closed with this song and people from the crowd jumped onstage to dance, there was a giant menorah being waved around - crazy energy in the house.
Gucci accessorizing for New Year's Eve: Louis Vuitton walks the line tightrope: Jasper's first official walk in Central Park. Christmas is in 5 days... If I write these holiday cards out tonight (that I bought way last week) and send them out first thing tomorrow morning, hopefully they arrive to everyone by Christmas Eve. Otherwise, I'm the slackerloser that sends the cards that arrive on the 26th or 27th. Manhattan-themed of course!
Lindsey showed up with this (cute) thing today... This little fluffball wearing an 'I love NYC hoodie' weighs in at just 7 pounds. However, he has the vocal chords of a grizzly bear, and loveeees to use them. 24/7. And I won't get into his other behaviors. I'm loving the hoodie though, quite stylish. He let me pull it up over his ears tonight for these photos, so sweet. He's staying until Sunday night eek!
I saw a chihuahua in midtown wearing little red pants last night. One of the greatest things about living in NYC is witnessing things I've never seen before on a daily basis.
Jasper. Current mood: displeasure. He's not that into Manhattan, but he will be, once he gives it a chance. Lindsey, looking fly as always. Floral print dress + ankle boots + black tights = perfection
I went home to CT for the weekend, totally under the weather. I didn't feel like moving. At all. So Jasper and I took this opportunity to catch up on most of season 7 of Weeds. I bought a Metro Card and have taken the subway 2 times, both successful. The C line and the 4/5/6. I'm getting the hang of it. Running up 5th on my nightly jog route... Vodka, with style. Absolut Brooklyn is amazing, it even smells amazing. It's a Spike Lee collaboration, and is flavored with apples and ginger. Try it, serve it to your guests, or bring it to a gathering. The design alone is quite impressive. Brunch at MXCO. Yum, highly recommended. Beats of the week, brought to you by Phantogram:
I like to write about things that inspire my life and my work - style, music, design, fashion, art, city living and...vodka! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find inspiration here too. -Ryan
